Zhejiang's railways posted record-breaking Spring Festival travel figures, according to statistics from the Zhejiang Communications Investment Group.

Hangzhouxi Railway Station saw 1.46 million departures, averaging 37,000 per day. Jan 25 marked the busiest day in the station's history, with 77,793 passengers — a 55 percent increase from the same period in 2024.

During the travel rush, the station operated 4,917 train services, including 1,198 additional trains, up 124.3 percent and 52.8 percent, respectively, from last year — both new records.

The Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway also saw a surge in demand, particularly after the launch of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou high-speed railway, which funneled new passenger flows in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Over the Spring Festival period, about 1,600 trains ran along the Hangzhou-Wenzhou route, carrying 98,000 passengers. On Jan 26, daily services peaked at 46 trains, setting an all-time high.
